In early 2016, the Irish Government is due to publish legislation regarding mandatory calorie posting that will be required for all food service providers to adhere to. This includes restaurants, cafes, hotels, pubs, delis, bakeries and many more. This means that every menu; whether they be on menu cards, boards, leaflets or any other forms, will have to display the amount of calories alongside the price in the same font size and colour. In February 2012, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland found that over 95% of consumers in Ireland wanted calories on menus. So why wait until 2016 when you can improve your business’s image now? Food business owners know that they don’t have the time or expertise needed to meet this demand on their own; but EatRight Ireland can help. In fact, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland stated that to fulfil this role “the support of technical experts in nutrition will be required, e.g. dietitians or nutritionists with a recognised qualification”. So here at EatRight Ireland, we have what you need. What can you expect?
