I recently gave a presentation to the Meath Junior Karate club in Navan. More and more athletes are recognising the need for quality nutrition in order to optimise their performance.  There is an increasing interest in sports nutrition in the combat sporting world. In the hour we had together, we learned about the different macro-nutrients and what they do in our bodies. We learned about what we need to eat before and after training, and how to best prepare for fight days. It was great to see so many parents turn up to support their young athletes. I was delighted to see the knowledge the young athletes already had about nutrients. It really took me by surprise! Navan is very lucky to have a sports coach like Adrian who values the role of nutrition, and the importance of imparting knowledge to the youngsters, so that they can make better and healthier decisions for themselves. In keeping with the competitive theme, the boys and girls split themselves into 3 groups for the nutrition quiz. I would like to congratulate Team Broccoli who won the nutrition quiz. Great day!!
